Get some books about real estate. Also, there are probably some good online sources that will tell you what you want to know. I would do a search online on specific interests:

My husband is in a licensed Real Estate school as I type! He wants to sell houses with a local Prudential office now that he is retired.

Call the agency first, tell them you may be interested in working as a Sales Agent. The Agency will no doubt recommend you to a School, like my husband is at. After you complete the course, you'll have to take a State Exam.

After you pass the exam, and have your license, it's time to go back to the Real Estate Agency. They'll no doubt give you some of their own training.
I don't know about your age or education, but if you work in an office that deals with real estate, such as law office, county clerk or assessor office, realty office, etc., you will learn invaluable lessons.
about mentors ...

I know someone who is a professional deal maker and redeveloper. he's been asked to mentor individuals an unknown number of times.

This man told me once at a social function that in all the nearly 20 years since the last real estate crash that only and exactly one of his mentees actually did the things he recommended.

so when you think you're ready to find a mentor -- you'd best be able to show that you've been serious and that you will DO what you're asked. and if the doing costs a few thousand -- you spend it.

as the mentee, if you even think ';but ....'; what you mean is ';NO';. and then you're out. immediately and permanently out.
Don't know if your wishing to learn about becoming a Realtor or an Investor?

Take a class at a community college.
Read Real Estate for Dummies.

But quite honestly, I was a Realtor for 5 years and most of the knowledge comes from experience as the real estate market is ever changing.
you got to have the knowledge and a cunning attitude.

Its basically selling houses and getting paid 2-3% of the houses value. And having a good life as you can sell like 10 houses a year and make a lot of money just by giving people rides and persuing them to buy the houses or property
