Some state motor vehicle divisions issue state id cards that are the equivalent of a drivers license as identification except that it does not authorize a person to drive a car. It's just to be used for identification.

For US citizens it can be done in one visit to the local office if you have the proper paperwork (like a social security card and birth certificate along with something that verifies your address). Not sure how long it will take for an international student.

I dont know how long the process takes, but be prepared that once you go to the DMV, you will be waiting FOREVER, theres never a good time to go
It depends on the state. In California you must make an appointment to go to the DMV with all your paperwork (passport, SS card) and then they give you a temporary ID on the spot. Your card ID will arrive in the mail within a week or two.
If you have the paper work not long. With the paper work it takes longer to get to the front of the line then it does to get the card.
from 2weeks to 90 days.
Most states use a drivers license as a state id. Go apply for a drivers license.
