Whats the best advice for a person new to dentures?

Why cant i stick my toung out? why is it so uncomfotable? why do they feel so big? how long to get use to them?Whats the best advice for a person new to dentures?
A relative of mine just got new dentures, for a while, they felt big and bulky in her mouth, and she couldn't stand it.

It's completely 100% normal.

Give it a few weeks and you'll hardly notice they're there.

Keep in mind, you've gone from having nothing there, to a big mouthfull of new teeth, they're new, and awkward feeling, just like with anything of the sorts. Good luck to you!

(And oh, my relative got used to them in about 3 weeks)Whats the best advice for a person new to dentures?
A friend of mine just had new dentures and she said the dentist told her to wear them all of the time for a few days. She is still swollen so that may be why you ';feel'; like they are too big. It will just take some time to get used to them. The denture should fit well after the swelling of your gums are down. If not, then tell your dentist for the denture may not be made correctly. Also the dentist can ground down some of the gum line on the denture if you are still uncomfortable after your swelling goes down. Dentures should not hurt after you are healed. They should fit firmly onto your gum. Hope you are feeling better soon and if, in a week, the denture is still not ';right'; call your dentist. After all, you wouldn't pay for a dress that doesn't fit you so don't pay for teeth that don't fit correctly either. Good luck to you.
Lower complete dentures really SUCK. Start saving for implants. Only 1 in 20 lower complete denture wearers are ever happy, even if you go to a specialist. If you can afford it get the implants before all your bone resorbs completely
Here's a dentist at ur service;

If ur dentures r well fitted n prefectly made, try 2 wear them as much as possible. If u ve gagging problem, thn start wearing them 4 few hrs a day n then increase the frequency by everyday. If ur dentures r loose, u can complain 2 ur dentist he cud reline or rebase them. If any other problem u r more thn welcome 2 ask as i m a qualified dentist.
Your new dentures WILL take some time to get used to. If you're gagging, you want to tell your dentist pronto! They may need to be cut down a bit. When I initially got mine, they were shaped like the capital letter ';D';. I gagged constantly. My dentist rounded the straight edge (like a backwards ';C';) and now, no problems. The implant idea is good but, EXPENSIVE! Also impractical if you smoke. Good Luck !!!
