What is the best advice you would give to a freshman college student?

just be yourself and you'll make friends right away. What is the best advice you would give to a freshman college student?
SAVE your money for the future for retirement. Invest well. What is the best advice you would give to a freshman college student?
You are going to be so tempted to do so many senseless things. Just think it through before you do them. Not saying don't have fun.........have fun safely.

Also, fasten your seat belt.................you are in for one hell of a roller coaster ride. You ain't in high school anymore, honey! You're playin' with the big boys now.

Make what you do there count towards your future......anything else is icing on the cake.
Stay Focused and remember your reason in going to to school.....
Don't make any hasty decisions. Think.
Take these into consideration:

1) Depending on your major, focus on your G.E. requirements primarily, plus any lower division courses that you need as a prerequisite to take the upper division courses. Don't rush into your major only to change majors next year.

2) Learn to actively read your text- don't waste your time highlighting, instead read a paragraph and write a note about what you read in the margin. You'll spend a whole lot less time studying for the test later if you do that. Spending a few minutes after class outlining what was learned is also beneficial, if you're serious about getting A's.

3) Check to see if your school has a professor evaluation site that rates how hard, fair, and interesting they are. Ideally, you'll get a straightforward, fair, fascinating professor that will motivate you to learn and not pull any weird surprises that'll butcher your grade.

4) If you're in a G.E. course, a grading curve will help you (assuming you actually study, at least a little), but it means that there's a whole lot of tough information that you SHOULD be learning. If you're in an upper division engineering course, where the curve mandates F's, you better work your butt off to do well. If for whatever reason you wind up in law school, and 1/3 of the class is kicked out, (since they wrote an B paper instead of an A paper) after the first year, you'll start to hate the idea of a grading curve all together.

5) Pick a night. That's your party night. The other nights, don't party. If there's some great happening at Cody's dorm on Tuesday, switch your party night to Tuesday instead of Friday for that week, but stay in on Friday and get your work done. Once you find that you can finish your work and have nothing to do, then you can start adding more party nights. But remember, upper division classes might force a reduction in those nights.

6) Get a part time job. This is the best advice I can give. Employers don't give a damn about your bachelor's degree 90% of the time. If you don't have job experience, and a lot of it, you're gonna start off making minimum wage with a degree in probably 9 out of 10 majors.

7) Don't party the week before midterms, finals, or big papers are due. You'll save yourself a lot of stress. Party extra hard when you're done.

8) If you're on a large campus, there's free food everywhere. Find it, and you'll save money.

9) If your major has advising, meet with your advisor every semester or quarter to make sure that you're taking the classes you need to take to graduate. If not, make arrangements at your department's office to meet with someone to discuss what classes to take to graduate.

10) Meet with your professors for office hours if you don't get the subject material. They have a nasty habit of giving out test answers when you do.
oooh i'm a freshman....

here it is cause i'm speaking from pure experience :

DON';T FOLLOW THE CROWDS ITS ONLY SHEEP THAT DO THAT oh when you have exams its a good idea to study
Regarding what exactly. Its pretty easy. Just keep your head in the books, no drinking, or very little, and have fun when you can. Use your weekends to study and get away if you can. Go out, have dinner with friends. Dont get too involved with a boyfriend or girlfriend. Try to find a good study group and be friendly. Dont burn bridges. Good luck!!
Always keep going. There were so many times when I just wanted to stop and say forget this due to family squabbling. I almost have an associates now, and it feels great to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Persevere and let nothing interfere.
Don't let things get you down. Don't bother with two faced friends, they are not really your friends. study at least 3x more than you party. And don't be afraid to meet new people. Good luck, have a wonderful time.
dont go crazy partying and set aside an hour or two everyday where you go to the library and do work.

you can stay on top your classes fairly easily if you go to the library regularly. i went everyday from 7-8 and i was able to graduate at the top of my class.
save your money
Don't cut class even though your friends are doing it and it's tempting. Study hard and work harder (on your assignments). Get plenty of sleep at night and have fun but not too much fun. Get involved in your school (sports, clubs, activities) it will make your time there more memorable. Good luck.
you will end up regretting 99% of the drinking, smoking and sexing up you engage in. So go easy and hit those books.
study more, party less...

Actually the best thing you can do is to actually complete the homework assigned right away. Don't procrastinate. This will keep the info fresh in your mind and you will actually learn and remember it. If you take care of the homwork and studying first, you know exactly how much time you have to party.

Aslo once you know exactly what you want to do for work once you get out of college, get a part-time job or summer jobs in that field. That way you have some experience under your belt when you get out.

Good luck
Though it seems like you can live the party animal life, you will get no where if you do. College is for those wanting to increase their education and make something of themselves. If you wanna drink and party, don't go to school for it. You will regret it so badly if you do. Work hard. Work to the best of your ability. Study for tests, and work work work.
Don't party too hard and keep your gpa between a 3.0 and 4.0.
well time passes so fast, keep your grades good but keep your friends near too find a balance between your school and your social life so you will never regret when you turn back.....

I am in my senior year now and 谋 wish if 谋 had 4 years more in colloge life is really hard after graduation you won't taste being stundet any more find the balanceeeeeeee....:)
Three pieces of advice

1) Get your school work done - this is your time to shine

2) Have a lot of fun - but don't let it keep you from getting your school work done

3) Grow - try new things - take interesting classes, save time for hanging around and talking with your class mates

Also, if you live on campus, try and get along with your room mate
