What's the best advice you were given when preparing for your second baby's arrival?

Just make sure you have plans already in place for where your first one will be while you are delivering and at the hospital. It helps ease the stress a little. Then, after you deliver, make it a big deal for the older child. Give them a sense of pride, and instead of only gushing about the new baby, also gush about how awesome of a big brother/sister that the older one will be. Also, don't forget that while fragile, yes, babies are also not breakable...let your older one feel really responsible, and helpful..while pointing out boundaries too. You will find your family balance really early on. Just make them as big a part of the whole thing as possible. What's the best advice you were given when preparing for your second baby's arrival?
The best advice I should have been given was to have no expectations. Just because you've done this once, doesn't mean it'll be the same, or even similar. Yet at the same time, people told me to expect the second child to be completely different from the first, so I was surprised when I kept seeing similarities. Your child could be the same or could be different, or even both, which is why you should enter this new stage with the same sense of wonder and excitement as you did the first. What's the best advice you were given when preparing for your second baby's arrival?
Dont shush your older child just so the baby can sleep... the baby has been listening to your other child for nine months and wont even hardly notice it...

plus, shushing your other child may make them jealous or they may resent you or the new baby!!

I didnt do it and my baby slept just fine!! I also didnt have to deal with sibling jealousy at al!! Now that they are older, though, they wake each other up just so they can play!!
To try to get stuff done around the house when either child is sleeping, feed them at the same time, bathe at same time, read, and so on.
