That indeed is a real problem. Try asking some friends if they have an advisor and if they would recommend him/her. Then ask why. You may have already committed the first sin of trying to find a good one. You have a predefined notion that you want a high interest rate. A good financial advisor would have to tell you that that is not a good idea. A good advisor would have to mitigate your expectations somewhat and redirect them towards preservation of capital and a reasonable rate of return with a decent chance of some growth of capital to stay ahead of inflation.
