I am not a new mother but thought this may be useful for women who are or are about to be.
So what advice can yo offer them?
My advice, do what you feel is right. Raise your child your way, don't be bullied by your mother, mother in law, sister, cousin, lady down the road to do things ';their way';. Because this is your child and you know what is best for them :)What's the best advice for a new mother?
expect the unexpected!! trust ur gut at all times and never underestimate urslf!!
agree with jellybean, time 4 urself! very necessary, just to regroup!!!!!What's the best advice for a new mother?
i m a mother of 2 kids, 1 is 4 years old boy 2nd is a month old baby girl and yh the other answers were helpfull for me its a lil courage for me as i have no help around and m so tired and exhausted its a lil hope for me i,ll advice for them listen to ur heart when its time to raising ur child but carefull with lil 1s they r so innocent handle them with care its for the new momz as many out there give up on their new baby's as i read many stories about misbehave with the new baby's so u ladies just hang in their and i kno its hard but just remember this THIS TIME WILL PASS.
good luck
I completely agree with your advice. My first baby is now 5 months old, and i have come to learn to trust my own instinct. Look at various sources but ultimately its your baby so its your decision. My mother and grandmother and mother in law have all told me to do things their way and at the begining i was doing things i wasnt comfortable with that they suggested. Now i just politely say ok.. thanks, but do things that i feel comfortable with. Spend as much time having cuddles with your little one- because soon curiosity sets in and all they want to do is run and look around.
Try hard not to give up breastfeeding- it can be especially hard during growth spurts when you feel like they are always on the boob- but it is worth- wish i knew this before
.
This is what gets me through each day:
1.) Sleep when baby sleeps
2.) When you feel like you're getting overwhelmed, either pass the baby to another or set it down and walk away for a few minutes for a break.
3.) Just remember that the baby depends on your for everything, so don't take anything at all personally. Baby don't know better!
4.) Spend LOTS of quality time with your baby and bond. I still cry when my baby smiles at me or coos.
raise ur child ur way, its good to hear others ppl's advice on how they raised their kids because u can get some tips from them but at the end of the day its ur child and u know him or her better than anyone and u know wats best for them..best thing i ever did was letting my child cry and listening to their different cries, so now everytime they cry i know wen its a hungry cry or tired cry or im wet or dirty.
I agree with all of the above but most of all I believe in taking time out for yourself. Even if it's a 1/2 hour trip to the grocery store BY YOURSELF. It will make you a better mother in the long run.
When you are feeling frustrated, always remember the good times: smiles, laughs, ';I love you';s, etc. These will encourage you to press on!
NEVER question your Mother's Intuition. If you think something doesn't seem right, go with your instinct! No person on the face of this earth knows your baby better than the Mother herself!
AMEN!
And my bit of advice is to relax! No one knows exactly what they are doing w/ their first baby yet we all try to do things perfect..just go w/ the flow, read your babies ';Q';s and have fun!

What's the best advice will u give to others based on your life till now........?
And may be thats the best advice for u too..........What's the best advice will u give to others based on your life till now........?
Live our own life honestly, sincerely and responsibly; not of, by, for or dependent on any ideology or others. We are born alone, live alone, and die alone; but every action we take, big or small, affects others and everything around us for eternity to come. Be prepared to die at any instant without any guilt or regrets. What's the best advice will u give to others based on your life till now........?
follow your intuition
don't be afraid to take risks because it is the only way to truly live and to learn. protecting yourself (in love, in career, etc) is just limiting...
learn from ur past mistakes and dont repeat them..

What is the best advice you can give to a person who wants to write fiction professionally?
Write daily, no excuses.
Read far more than you engage in any other form of entertainment. Read everything, not just what you like most.
Totally master writing mechanics like grammar, punctuation, and usage. Two mistakes can mean rejection.
Never share your writing seeking praise.
Never share your writing online except at a password-protected forum for writers. (You give away first publication rights otherwise.)
Be open to criticism, acknowleging that it may sting, but can make you a better writer.
Submit your best, expecting nothing, and write another. Most often nothing is what you'll get.
Brace yourself for fierce competition, a lot of it from people who are better writers, or have better ideas.
Grow a thick skin. What is the best advice you can give to a person who wants to write fiction professionally?
Write everyday. If you want to make writing your job, you need to put in the hours. So make goals for yourself. I write at least a page a day, but I usually try to shoot for three. Or you can also set aside a few hours after dinner, before bed, after homework, etc., for your special writing time.
Also, read material from within the genre you want to write. This way, you can learn what publishers and agents look for. What is the best advice you can give to a person who wants to write fiction professionally?
Write every day.
Read non stop. When you read you see the format, you see what works and what doesn't, it'll improve your vocabulary, and it can inspire ideas for your novel. Also, it's fun. :D
Edit, nonstop. Your novel will never be perfect, but make sure to read, reread, proof, reread, proof, and then reread and don't for get to proof.
Know what the agent your sending your manuscript is looking for in the stories they accept. If you're writing romance don't send it to an agent that will only read fantasy.
Read up on writing world. Learn how to write a query. Learn how to format your story.
NEVER GIVE UP! People will reject you, it will suck, but anyone can get published with perseverance.
Write, rewrite, and keep writing. Everyday.

What was the best advice you got in church?
My Sunday School teacher spend one service explaining why we should never get a credit card. He taught us to live within our means.
(The rest of the time, I was being asked to believe a outrageous tale or another)What was the best advice you got in church?
Why worry about what other imperfect people think about you?
It's probably the only good advice I've ever gotten from going to a church. What was the best advice you got in church?
Don't take money out of the offering plate.
Don't chew the gum you find under the bench.
Don't wipe boogers on the hand rests.
Never let wet or loud farts during the sermon.
No laughing allowed.
Crying is encouraged.
Shake hands after using the bathroom.
Don't color or write in the books provided.
Absolutely nothing....unless bad advice counts? I have plenty of bad advice from churches!
Don't make change in the plate as it passes .... it has served me well.
Ath
To put my faith and trust in Jesus.

What is the best advice you can give a new author?
I have been writing for a couple of years now, and sometimes it gets really discouraging. Writing a book is a huge mountain to climb. I know it has been done many times by others, and if they can do it then so can I. But in my times of doubt, what would you say to cheer me up?
thanks everyoneWhat is the best advice you can give a new author?
Have something new to say... yes, quite.
Which is it - best advice or something to cheer you up? The two aren't necessarily compatible. Assuming that it doesn't deter you that most books that are started are never finished, and most books that finished are never published, the best advice I can give is:
- Some writers plan every last detail before they start writing. Others make everything up as they go along. Most are somewhere in between. None of these is right or wrong, but you need to figure out which approach will work for you.
- Write something every day, even if it's only a sentence. This is the best preventative I've found for writer's block. By writing regularly, you keep the story fresh in your mind, and you're thinking about it when you're not writing. So when you sit down to write, you have some idea what you're going to say.
- Join a critique group. They will tell you what your friends and family are too afraid (or too ignorant) to tell you - what's wrong with your book and what you can do to fix it.
- Don't try to edit as you go along, because if you do, you'll never finish the book. Write the first draft, no matter how rough. You don't have to show it to anyone. If you change your mind about something major halfway through, make a note to fix it when you edit. Let the book sit for a while, to give yourself some mental distance from it. Then start editing.
- Set a daily or weekly target for how many words you're going to write. If you can stick to it, this gives you some idea of when you can expect to finish the book, which gives you a goal to aim for. It takes me six months to a year to do a first draft.
Good luck, and don't take it too seriously. What is the best advice you can give a new author?
Write something every day, be it a diary, a journal, an observation, a conversation overheard at breakfast, lunch, or dinner, an incident at a bus stop, a feeling, anything and everything you see, hear, smell, taste, touch, or feel.
You'll be amazed at what you have collected in your writings.
Then one day you will expand on one thought, incident, or feeling and off you'll go--writing like a madman.
Happens to me all the time.
1: You need an idea for a story
2: Have your charaters inline
3: Figure out how they know each other or how they will meat.
4: And Have LOTS of fun!

What is the best advice you've ever been given?
Mine is ';Live your live to the fullest now, because no one can plan out when they will die';What is the best advice you've ever been given?
When I was growing up, my mom told me over and over again, ';The worst thing in life is to look back and wish you had tried';. Those words sank in. Whenever I was afraid to try something, my mother's words would ring in my head. I don't ever want to get old and look back and wish I had tried something--always wondering if I would have succeeded or failed. So I've tried lots of things. Sometimes I fail but that's okay. At least I try. What is the best advice you've ever been given?

What is the best advice you have for someone planning on getting pregnant?
I know the basics (eat right, no drinking/drugs...etc), but I want to know from woman who have been pregnant (or known someone who was) if there are any special tricks you guys had out there? Any good advice? What is the best advice you have for someone planning on getting pregnant?
Have your husband walk around in boxers if he doesn't already wear them.
Buy yourself a sexy nightie.
Enjoy yourselves. Don't worry about when you're ovulating... just have sex every day! If you relax and let things just happen you will not only be less stressed but it will happen sooner. How many couples try and try forever, finally give up, and get pregnant the next month?? It happened to my cousin.
Don't tell family you're trying. They'll hound you every month, and if you're not preg it will get you depressed. Keep it a secret between you and your husband. Enjoy yourselves and I wish you the best of luck. What is the best advice you have for someone planning on getting pregnant?
have butt sex that way the baby cums out your ***
Are you married??? You don't say. But, first off you should eat right, veggies, fruit, etc, no drugs, no alcohol, exercise. Make sure you see your doctor. Take some parenting coarses. Get some books on getting pregnant, being a mother.
The only advice I will give, is be sure this is what you want. A baby is non-returnable. It is a life-long commitment, and it
WILL CHANGE your life.
I love being a parent, but it is not for everyone. Wish you the best
Don't do it. Hate to discourage you, but the world is a jacked up place and it ain't gettin any better. The ozone layer is damn near depleted and all of our food is genetically engineered. Scary times for us, I can't imagine what it would be like in about 20 years. Just something to think about, if you haven't given it any thought. If you have given it thought already and decided to do it, just be prepared for your baby to be very gassy if fed on formula. Most formula makes children extremely gassy and uncomfortable. Breast feeding is the best way to go. Best Wishes.
do it... all night long.
just make sure its the right time for both you and the hubby. And good luck.
Don't do it!
sex at night not in morning. if you follow the natural family book you will have a better idea of how your body shows you signs that you are fertile. me, i just look at my husband and get pregnant, for some it can take a couple years. if you havent read the book then here are some tips: your body temp will rise, but you have to take your temp before you get out of bed, and at the same time every day. you will notice a pattern every month. then there is the gliding rule. when you wipe your self in the bathroom, the toilet paper will glide like a slippery feeling, the tp won't catch. you can also check your cervix manually, with clean hands use two fingers everyday and feel the position of your cervix.up or down. you will notice during your fertile time of the month your cervix will be soft and up when ovulation starts to end you will see a change to down and hard. they say that when the cervix is soft it should feel like the tip of your nose. this may seem embarrassing to some women but the process of giving birth is much worse. there is so much more to these methods that i just can't explain with out charts. but here is the best advice i can give you, your body will tell you when your ovulating you just need to look for the signs. remember too they say that it takes a full year to get nfp down so don't get frustrated. it is a great method to plan having or not having childreen. but it takes a great deal of control and awareness. good luck to ya!
REST and lots of it. You wont believe how tired and exhausted you will be in the beginning and end of your pregnancy. Go with it...dont over do it and take a nap. You will feel much better and it will help your body be able to fight off the germs, like colds, flus, etc. oh yeah, get a flu shot in the fall!
Get married first.
Get a doula for your birth. I can't say that enough times.
Take your prenatal vitamin before you go to bed. Don't over eat when your hungry. (These are my tips for morning sickness, for a lot of women it just isn't in the morning.)
First marriage then great sex a lot of it to.
Injoy
Start on a good pre-natal vitamin now.
Get as much sleep as you can now.
Remember that you are still having the dirty sex ..... so it can be enjoyable.
It all depends on how your body handles it. Go get a physical exam by your gyno first. He will give you lots of good advise. Start taking prenatal's now. You can also add extra folic acid (ask your dr how much you should have) That is the most important vitamin. We have had a hard time getting pregnant %26amp; it's very frustrating. If it goes on for over a year, make sure %26amp; have his sperm count checked. There's also this REALLY cool ovulation monitor you can buy at rite-aid, walgreens, etc... It's around $150, but you will know exactly when you are ovulating. If it turns out that your not ovulating, you'll know %26amp; your Dr can start you on fertility meds.
Get married first if you aren't. Children need both parents; things are getting worse. Also make sure this is really what you want. A child is a full time responsibility.
A friend told me once to stand on my head ';after';...DIDNT WORK! LOL
Good luck to you...
